After my husband suffered a mini stroke last week which has left him with damage to an optic nerve, I made an appointment to see Frederick for a second opinion and a more detailed explanation to help stop us worrying. I was amazed at what a lovely man he was, professional yet extremely friendly and approachable. He told us what to expect and that recovery would happen but will take a few months not weeks but filled us with great confidence. Gobsmacked when he waived his fee for the visit as he said we had been through enough. I actually welled up! Have made an appointment for myself next month and would highly recommend this practice to anyone. All the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Thank you 😊

Excellent service today from McShaw Optometrists. I needed to have my prescription sunglasses adjusted as they weren’t sitting correctly onmy face. I hadn’t purchased them from McShaws so felt a bit cheeky going in and asking if they’d adjust them for me. They were so friendly and expertly adjusted my sunglasses which now fit perfectly. After being in the system for suspected Glaucoma, I lost faith and was highly recommended to see Fredrick, who done a thorough check on my eyes & confirmed I had lost half the sight in one eye. Fredrick referred me on to have laser treatment, successfully. Very helpful friendly staff. Highly recommend. Wish I'd known to go see him a couple years ago.

My eye test was very detailed and thorough. Frederick was a joy to meet. Very friendly and professional. He wanted to explain more to me about his diagnosis so he FaceTimed me on Sunday afternoon to complete his explanation. Needless to say I was hugely impressed and grateful. My positive experience was further reinforced by the friendly and helpful service provided by Lesley on reception and Tania the Optical Dispenser. Nothing was too much trouble and they work as a great team. My thanks to all of you. I have now found my perfect opticians and highly recommend their services.

Frederick has been my optician for around 20 years and I wouldn’t dream of entrusting my eyesight to anyone else. He is extremely knowledgable, meticulous and he and all of his team are kind and friendly people. He seems to genuinely care about my eyesight, probably even more than I do, and works very hard to give me an outstanding level of care even in the limited time I have available to visit to Sidmouth from Bristol.

Family-feel to the practice that makes you feel like you're actually being cared for as opposed to another item on the belt to be pushed through.
